Desk note · Sep 23, 2026
BitMEX said exchange operations ended at 04:00 UTC on 23 September 2026. Withdrawals remain open on the website. Deposits are no longer credited, and the notice asks people not to send more funds. Balances left behind can be charged a monthly fee: 1% a year or $50, whichever is greater, for KYC'd accounts. Cointelegraph carried the same shutdown.
This is not a hack post. It is a wind-down. The site can still look up while it is closed for new risk. If a balance is still there, the instruction in their own words is to withdraw.
QEHFX does not custody BitMEX balances and this note is not a recovery service. The useful distinction is the one the notice draws: login and withdrawal on one side, new positions on the other. A venue can be reachable and still be finished as an exchange.
